Musicity is an ongoing, city-by-city, programme of curated music that sits at the intersection of sound, architecture and experience. We commission recording artists to compose original music in response to an aspect of the city that inspires them. Through our purpose built App, these tracks can be heard and downloaded only by visiting these locations.
It was the French theorist Guy Debord who encouraged the development of “inventive strategies for exploring cities: just about anything that takes pedestrians off predictable paths and jolts them into a new awareness of the urban landscape”
Our small hope is that this project inspires people to see the urban fabric in new ways and encourages them to explore the city musically, architecturally and experientially.
Launching in London as part of the Story of London Festival, seven recording artists have been commissioned to compose original music in response to a building, location or aspect of London that inspires them.
