Facebook Datamine: Top 10 Songs for Hookups and Breakups

facebook_valentine

Facebook knows when you are in a relationship, when it’s complicated, and when you break up.

It also knows what music you’re listening to, across lots of different apps, because Facebook is the internet’s new mega-scrobbler – a feature it calls “Facebook listen.”

So, as of Valentine’s Day, which are the lovey-dovey-est jams — the ones people play when they’re in a fresh relationship, or at least admitting it to themselves and their friends? Which songs are the lovelorn rocking when they break up?

As they did last year, Facebook has compiled a list of the “top 10 relationship songs and top 10 breakup songs,” now based on data from the past three months. That data “includes songs that were most played across Facebook listen apps during the times people add the beginning or end of a relationship on Facebook in the US.”

The text version of Facebooks datamined list of heartbreak and love is below; the image version is above; and if you click through to Facebook’s post, you can hear them all on Spotify.
