Top 6 Android Music Apps for Apple AirPlay

android airplay

Apple’s AirPlay gives people the pleasure of watching movies, looking at photos, and of course listening to music wirelessly, zapping the content from their iPhones, iPod Touches, or iPads to their televisions and home speaker systems with a variety of popular iOS music apps.

What about Google’s Android devices — do those work with AirPlay too? Last year, Evolver.fm reported that Apple’s wireless music influence was in fact starting to be felt on Android. Meanwhile, Google’s competing Fling platform has effectively been a non-starter.

We’ve since seen a slow but steady rise in Android apps that stream music to Apple TVAirport Express, and AirPlay-compatible speakers and sound systems. Google should be worried. This is how people develop a taste for Apple.

That’s their problem. To help Android owners who want in on wireless home music without waiting for Google to get its act together, here are the best Android apps for streaming music to Apple’s AirPlay devices:

Update: We found four more Android AirPlay apps for music. so check there too.

Onward!

Want to stream spotify through airplay. How can I do it?

I have a Libratone Live speaker and I’ve tried many apps, the only app which can stream directly to sources other than appleTV seems to be Twonky. Here’s a video of it in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H55Bd2ASGao

you should really update this article, if not delete it alltogether. here’s why:
    1. taglist by eye-c just doesn’t work. it doesn’t see any airplay device, forget about it

    2. remote for itunes is not an airplay app. it doesn’t send music from android to airplay like you said in the article’s title. it is just a remote. it’s not even the best one; retune is much better and it’s free
    3. iMediashare doesn’t recognize the airport express

    4. Twonky music doesn’t exist anymore. Twonky mobile doesn’t stream to airplay. it does see the devices, but it never streams anything to them.

    5. Airbubble doesn’t stream to airplay, it receives from airplay.

    6. Honey is the only app that works – it does see airplay devices and does stream LOCAL content to them.
Currently there is no app that can send streamed content (spotify, deezer, pandora, etc) to airplay. And that is the future as you well know it. Let’s see what miracast looks like though…
