Leaked: Mysterious ‘Facebook Vibes’ Music Feature

While many of us were enjoying a long weekend on July 4, a clever man called Jeff Rose was busy unearthing a hidden feature within Facebook’s new video chat feature called Facebook Vibes.

Somehow, it took until Thursday for word to spread, but people are now speculating about what this could be. At the moment, all that is clear is that the social network apparently plans to release a Facebook app called Facebook Vibes — and that it involves a function called MusicDownloadDialog, which we feel comfortable in assuming has something to do with downloading music:

    if (paramString.equals("com.facebook.peep"))
      return this.window.getMember("VideoChatPlugin");
    if (paramString.equals("com.facebook.vibes")) {
      return this.window.getMember("MusicDownloadDialog");

If speculation that Facebook Vibes will involve some sort of music locker is correct, the new Google+ social network will have one fewer way to steal music fans from Facebook.

That’s all we know about this for now; stay tuned for more on the “Facebook Vibes” mystery. Facebook is already a great way to share music, and it’s not even trying… yet.
